ABOUT / DOUGLAS OLDHAM

Architecture begins
with people.

The most rewarding part of my work is the people I meet and the relationships we build.

Your family is unique.
Your home should be, too.

I’m a Utah-based, NCARB-certified, licensed architect designing distinctive single-family and multifamily homes, alongside commercial spaces that help people eat, work, and live better.

My work in architecture began in 1993, and I’ve been licensed since 2001. I’ve collaborated with individual homeowners, builders, and developers on residential and commercial projects, bringing a broad perspective to each new design challenge.

Inspired by the mountains and valleys of the Mountain West, I’m drawn to spaces that connect with their surroundings. I’m especially interested in how residential and environmental technologies can support comfortable, energy-conscious homes built to last.

A PERSONAL PRACTICE

A shared vision.
A lasting relationship.

I believe great design can be life-changing. Its value comes from creating places that make everyday life better, and I want thoughtful, lasting design to be accessible to more people.

You work directly with me. I listen, ask questions, and help you navigate the decisions that shape your project. Open, honest dialogue allows us to develop a shared vision—and gives me a clear responsibility to advocate for it as the design takes shape.

The relationships that grow through this process are what make the work meaningful to me.

BEYOND THE DRAWING BOARD

Connected to the outdoors.
Grounded in community.

Outside of architecture, I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, and spending time outdoors. The landscapes I explore continue to influence the way I think about buildings and their place in the world.

Serving in my church is another important part of my life. Both in my work and outside it, I value opportunities to connect with people, contribute, and build lasting relationships.
